  • Atleast AMD doesn't jack their processor prices up like intel. AMD is affordable cpu's yeah Intel may have the performance crown but AMD blows Intel out of the water in affordability. Intel can't touch AMD's budget Quad Core line. For 99 dollars you can get an AMD II X4 620 or an AMD Phenom X4 9850 and for around the same price on intel's side you can get a Pentuim Dual Core E6500. Hmmm.

  • Is this good for games like GTA IV and most modern titles?

  • @ChesterDoraemon you fag with pentium 4.

AMD cooler with Heatpipes are VERY good !

  • 9600+? Its simple 9600. This is not a PR number just a model name :)

  • I love my 955 it owns.

  • wtf is that knife all about!

  • Think that knife for the box is overkill?

  • Fanboyism is an overused term. It's simply the way you look at the benchmarks and what you value in a processor. For me, overclockability and clock-for-clock speed are where it's at. And since Core 2 Quad's are typically more overclockable, and clock-for-clock, comparable if not slightly faster (although at this point the Phenom II is obviously a better buy), I'd put my money on Intel. Also, the Q9550 is about the same price. i5 however is the exact same price and more powerful than either.

  • Consitering the Q9000 series is still more expensive than their compediting Phenom II chips, Sony Vegas and SuperPi (a pointless synthetic benchmark) don't mean very much.

Gosh, I sound like an AMD fanboy. I'm not, just so you know :P

  • The Phenom II is at the same level as Core 2 Quad's as long as it's clocked slightly higher. e.g. the Phenom II 945 is about the same speed at the Q9550, which is 166MHz slower; the same is the case with Phenom II 965 vs. QX9770. However, while the Phenom II doesn't exceed the Core 2 Quad by any considerable amount in most cases (except memory bandwidth), the Core 2 Quad absolutely OBLITERATES the Phenom II in Sony Vegas, for example, and in Super Pi is a whopping 60% slower! i7 is far above it.
