This is a small demo of the headphone VST plugin chain I use to provide a pretty convincing room effect for headphones.
Only free VST plugins are used, so anyone could do this.
The effect is switched on and off continuously in this video to help compare the difference.
I use crossfeed with room stereo impulse responses, as well as some EQ to avoid crossfeed coloring the sound.
I also use another sound card to loop Windows sounds back to VSThost. This way I can use it with any application in roughly real time.
It is also possible to use this in Foobar2000 for example, as it has a Stereo Convolver plugin available.
The settings I use in this demo are the ones I like best... they can be tweaked to re-size the room, move the speakers farther etc.
Happy listening. =)
