Towards the end of this clip where he is asked to model the numbers then again asked to create them the next day followed by his physiological reaction to the "bastardized" version of Pi is mind blowing. His brain is calculating numbers correctly as if he is watching a film. Incredible.

Sauber, he did.
But not everyone is particularly good at molding play-dow.
I do think they are continuously testing him to understand how this process is developing.
He might be seeing the universe in a completely different way, or the way that it manifests on another spectrum perceived differently by his unique mind.

more tests by different scientists should be done before stating that his computational abilities are not a result of conscious effort, but totally a result of crystallization of some psycho-emotional images ....
