Not sure if this is the official video for the song but the black and white speaks to me of a longing for the conviction and simple faith their parents may have had in the 1950s. The feeling is a longing to have that simple faith and a longing for it to be true along with a weariness to the world in the lyrics and sighing effect of the instrumental arrangement.

As an atheist I cant comment on the religous aspect of the previous posts. What I can absolutely appreciate is the soulful beauty of the music. Truly a great cover of a fantastic & moving song :)
