  • I did not realize the dead stayed in their roots 67 68 period..I don't know of the deads many styles? That lead guitar sure sounds good though. Im looking for that glossy blue lookin video with pig pen ,68 era i think?

  • @dannyhood66 - Jerry was playing a Gibson Les Paul guitar back then, beautiful sound...

  • So was this right around the time that Mickey joined?

  • @doubletopsecret1 - Hi. I think Mickey had been with the band for about 5 months by that time.

  • Ya just can't say anything bad about Pigpen. He falls in the category of "Only the Good die young." I am totally impressed with his harp playing. I also hear Jerry playing The Other One riffs on this tune. Thank you for posting this.

  • @facebookcnp52 - you're welcome and i agree..!

  • @bbender1975 Wikipedia states that he had congenital biliary cirrhosis, so you are right.

  • @bbender1975 You;d be amazed. It almost got me at 32, about five years post his age then. Look at his girlfriend, Janis Joplin...

Alcohol is a bitch, and it will get you, and stars alike.

  • Oh Yea

  • @bbender1975 It ain't easy to wear out your body that quick, but it's not near as unusual as you might think.

  • @facebookcnp52

What baffles me is how much Thunderbird and Southern Comfort can one drink to die of cirrhosis at 27? I can't believe he just drank himself to death at that age. He MUST have had a predisposition to liver problems.
