Kerry Fraser doesn't call Wayne Gretzky's high stick (original CBC feed)

This is the original CBC feed of one of the most controversial plays in NHL history: Wayne Gretzky's high stick on Doug Gilmour in overtime of game six of the 1993 conference finals. Although NHL rules called for an automatic major penalty and an ejection, Kerry Fraser chose not to make the call. Gretzky scored seconds later, and the Kings went on to win the series.

Years later, Fraser told reporters "I was screened on the play, the replays clearly show that". Note that replay actually shows that he had a clear view of the play and was looking right at it.

In 2000, Time Magazine called this play "The Worst Thing That Ever Happened In The Millenium".

I'm not gonna disagree that this shouldn't have been a penalty, but maybe I'm missing something, but your claim that "replay actually shows that he had a clear view of the play and was looking right at it" is not substantiated by anything on this video! The only replay shown in the clip has only players visible. no officials.

This Buggies me to this day, the Leafs should have won game 6, because Wayne Gretzky would have not even been on the Ice. Kerry Fraser stole the Stanley Cup from the Leafs that year ,we all know they would have walked over the Habs.B.S. Thx Kerry Jackass

The issue isn't whether or not the leafs would have scored on the ensuing powerplay - it's that in that same shift, Gretzky went on to score the game winning goal to tie the series up (when he should have been in the box for High-Sticking).

I'm not saying that Kerry Fraser had it out for the Leafs, but you can't discount bias in sports. Look at the Miami Heat against OKC Thunder last year. Most of the calls favoured Miami by a wide margin. You can't discount politics from the higher execs.
