The voice of an angel. Romance personified. I can't even put into words the way his voice touches my soul. The word "understand, " as sung by Johnny Mathis in this song, just gives me chills.

Happy Valentine's Day.

From the 1968 album, "Those Were The Days."
Composer. J. Capehart

Yes, you can purchase the song on the double CD of "Those Were the Days of Love/Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet." These new CD's have been converted and released by Collector's Choice Music, thanks to Sony.

  • another gem ,that Mathis 'Magic' again

Thanks so much for all of these great treasures, as always the videos are beautiful

  • @capatga You're welcome. I really appreciate your coming by and thank you for the kind words.

  • Thank you for "understanding" my comments. I really feel unless one truly "get"s " the vast scope of what he has given....well, you do. In an interview in BC some years ago he said " there are people like me out there...and went on to say...they are "sensitive, romantic, sometimes "sad". quiet, shy, and possibly alone but not necessarily "lonely". They are those who dearly "love" the precious gift of his life...and the gift God gave him to we that connect emotionally. Thank you for sharing

  • @Heart2Heart76 I never heard that, living in the US. Very nice. Thanks for sharing his comments. I know his friend of 40 plus years has told him many times how much he has effected the lives of so many. Always nice to know another who appreciates the God given gift he shares so beautifully.

  • I hope this comes across with the sentiment that I intend....but this song, as mainstream and innocent as it is, brings to mind my feelings about Mr. Mathis and his beauty. No matter how rotten the day, no matter how dark the night, irregardless of the pain no matter what it'[s origin, we can turn around and look at someone who has shared with us beauty, warmth, and a soft place to fall. I wonder if he knows what he gives....

  • @Heart2Heart76 Lovely comment. From what I've heard, he may just be starting to understand the impact he has had on so many lives for over 50 years. Thank you for the wonderful comment and for stopping by.

  • Having spent a good portion of my life as a musician and vocalist I had the huge pleasure of working with a couple of touring "Vegas style show bands" and each group of the that era (60's and 70s) along with certain headline singers were the folks we worked very hard to imitate. I personally did a pretty fair job with about four different artists however, the one artist I tried to imitate but never could do justice to was Mr. Mathis. His so unique voice was/is beautiful. Wish I had met him.

  • I've never heard this song sang this way. How beautiful and tenderly touching... thanks for sharing.

  • Today this really touched me, as only Johnny can do......Thank you RMRY your such a blessing to me......:>)

  • Very beautifully done!!!
