This R&B track is another favorite of mine from her debut 1986 album (cd) "Perfect Timing", has a funky groove and bassline, with an excellent melody, and Donna's booming soulful vocals, outstanding 80's R&B from an outstanding 80's R&B singer!!

Oh wow, I love the whole Shannon album that this is from, but I have to say I think Donna does a better job vocally.....wow, I never knew about this cover....thanks for the post! Did this hit the charts at all? Also, does Donna do any slow songs?

Donna Allen performed this song on the very first NBC-TV "Showtime At The Apollo". I still have the VHS recording. The show opened up with "Serious". LL Cool J was the other guest artist. "SWEET SOMEBODY" was originally done by Shannon.
