  • People who think that ARM is going to replace x86 is just stupid. ARM might replace all x86 products in a mobile environment. As for gaming computers and high end encoding systems. ARM will not be able to close the 20 year gap but in the mobile market they have it covered.

  • @Amrut223 A MBA isn't a high-end computer, obviously for high-end computers and ARM won't replace the current CPU's, but for products like a normal laptop it will.

  • @SummerWizz1 I agree, but I think with A17 cores, it will but we need to wait till 2014 until that.

  • You suck thumbs down there I commented and rated like you asked.

  • @SummerWizz1 Well when Intel release the 3 Gate technology for there x86 CPUs this could change apples mind. Of course i can't say for sure since it isn't released. I think for the thin low power notebooks ARM is the perfect choice.

  • An Arm processor in a Macbook Pro would be quite the poor performer in comparison to Intel equipped laptops.

In a way, this could boost sales for the desktop Macs as they would be the only machine capable of any sort of demanding tasks like rendering video or (god forbid), random gaming urges.

Personally, I would take a high performance laptop with ~4 hr battery life over a low performing laptop with 10+ hr battery life, but since I'm a PC person anyway,I doubt I will need to face such choice.

  • if it was just an A5 adapted to be quad core (i.e. an ARM Cortex A9), then this still wouldn't be anywhere near as powerful as the current Core2's or whatever Intel chips that are available in the macbook air because of the underlying architecture however it would provide a ridiculously long battery life (probs 10+ hours).... 2012/2013, an ARM Cortex A15 would probs be a different story however

  • nice stash dude
