"Wont add a dime to the deficit and is paid for upfront. The Presidents plan will not add one dime to the deficit today or in the future and is paid for in a fiscally responsible way. It begins the process of reforming the health care system so that we can further curb health care cost growth over the long term, and invests in quality improvements, consumer protections, prevention, and premium assistance. The plan fully pays for this investment through health system savings and new revenue including a fee on insurance companies that sell very expensive plans.
# Requires additional cuts if savings are not realized. Under the plan, if the savings promised at the time of enactment dont materialize, the President will be required to put forth additional savings to ensure that the plan does not add to the deficit."

  • I'm so fortunate I don't have to worry about health care, I live in the UK. I have enough to worry about. I just wish US senates, congress will put aside their special interest and differences and work together to provide health care for their people.

  • It's a small price to pay for the good of the many - Health Care for everyone. The need of the many out weighs the greed of one. It's time that people learn to care for each other.

The advantages of Health care for everyone out weighs the disadvantages.

You are partially correct. It is true we Americans must budget our expenses better, but I certainly don't want health insurance companies to get rich on my behalf.

So I invest in precious metals as a hedge against the rising costs of health insurance.

    You should too.

Take your Nextel, answering machine, and your Wii and throw it in the trash.

Start buying things that will make you profit--not those greedy health insurance scum.

Ok nobody is entitled to anything? Would you say you are entitled to police, fire, and public education?

Answer the question: YES or No

I don't care about your rhetoric or opinions, I want to know what your answer is.

    Not so fast.

People who lose their jobs also lose their coverage.

Children are born with medical conditions, sometimes through no fault of their own.

It does not take a rocket scientist that just having a job does not mean you get good health coverage.

There are certain people who cannot provide for themselves. Some are even veteranms from war with no limbs.

So your consensus is way overgeneralized. Many people want Insurance but they are denied.

  • hmm. I like you.

  • I see you posted this a little over a year ago. Have you changed your mind about this particular health care bill? Just in recent weeks, you can see that premiums will sky rocket (they said it wouldn't). Its not that people don't want health care reform, it's that this bill is tremendously flawed. Canada and the UK are denouncing it just as we are making it law. Not too smart on our part. It works for some smaller European countries partly due to their population size. Loved you on Conan!

  • @democratichypocrit what about those countless people who can actually afford the ridiculous prices for healthcare? The ones who have pre-existing sicknesses? The ones with cancer, diabetes, etc etc? The ones who actually require the services the healthcare companies provide? The ones who have been turned down, time and time again, by these immoral companies because they cost money. The people who work hard and have preexisting conditions often are screwed over by these companies.

  • Congrats on the health care bill passing, Charlyne!

  • lol stupid americans, the whole western world has free healthcare. and if you still want private health insurance, you can still have both. the whole world makes fun of you because you dont have public healthcare. its beond rediculas that america dosent have free healthcare. you pay double per person than what other rich countries spend. and you dont cover everyone.

  • Truth be known the taxes are probably more than one fourth. If one tallies in the secondary taxes, such as, registration fees, license fees, luxury taxes, Gasoline, property, municipal bonds etc. etc. I am sure the fiqure is well over 50%. Extensive Government studies have been done to identify our breaking point. Rather than adopting policies that make government more efficient, they will only consider how to get more of our money
