Part one of my play "Dark Night of the Russet Rascal" from Phare Play's 21-hour play festival.
7 writers met at 10pm Friday night. We all drew 4 headshots from a hat. Then 2 themes, "Holidays" (I got Secretary's Day) and "Obscure Jobs" (I got Butler to Millionaire Superhero), and we had to use the line "Why are you being a ______________? You're ________________, ________________, and ___________________ - or so my therapist says."
Delivered our plays (all had to be under 12 pages) at 10am the next morning, met with directors, then went to bed.
Directors were given a prop they all had to incorporate into the direction (Latex Gloves), then they rehearsed all day till the shows went up at 7pm and 9:30pm. Tons of fun!
Went with a Superhero theme, of course. There's shout-outs to Batman, Superman, and Watchmen in there.
I liked my show a lot, and it won "Best Use of Prop" (kudos to my director!) at the end of the night.
