Hi all,

Today was a very dark and damp Sunday wasn't it?...Well it was where we are! However, that doesn't mean that services on the SSR can simply stop running, there is a timetable to keep in operation afterall!

Today's locomotives were:-
*4-6-0 Black 5 No45156 "Ayrshire Yeomanry" (Main Train)
*0-6-2 56XX Taffe Tank No6600 (Charter Train)
*0-6-0 Class 08 Diesel Shunter (Shunting+ECS Duties)
*Co-Co Class 50 Diesel "Furious" (Final Train)

Today's train rakes were:-
*Main Train=4xLNER Teaks+Autocoach (W197)
*Charter Train=LMS Brake+Pullman No161+Pullman No64+GWR Comp

Today's Timetable (Summer):-
Sutherland Dep:-10:40,11:50,13:00,14:10,15:20,16:30 (D)
Chilvers Dep:-11:15,12:25,13:35,14:45,15:55,17:05 (D)

key=
(D): Diesel Hauled

Notes From Today:
1)Charter Train=Today a special train was chartered for a 50th Anniversary Party. The locomotive chosen to haul the train was No6600, chosen due to her lovely GWR Green livery. The engine first worked to Chilvers with the Pullman ECS. There she picked up her passengers and they enjoyed a 6-course meal aboard the train in full 5-star luxury. After a couple of round trips of the line, in between passenger services, 6600 dropped the passengers off at Chilvers again before returning with the ECS to Sutherland. She then disposed.

2)The Class 08 worked to Chilvers South light today to collect the railway's 94XX Pannier No9400 (on a flatbed wagon). The engine had been away alone to a private railway and was returned today by rail, to Chilvers South. The main line connection at Chilvers South was used for the first time ever! The loco was then taken to Sutherland by the 08 and put in the coach sidings before unloading.

We hope you enjoy this video and we look forward to hearing your opinions and comments on it!

Enjoy :D

  • Also, thanks for the gardening bit of the comment too! I'll pass the message on to the gardening team...yes there is one! I don't get involved with that side of things, I run the railway!, and maintain the loco fleet. Thanks again...

  • Hi there again. Thanks again for your comments. Yes we considered a few methods. However, the best way for us is still the old "by hand" method! You can use a twisted piece of wire as a "hook" and you can also use the special uncoupling ramps which are readily available to buy. We have a few in stock but have yet to try them out. We may consider fitting one at Chilvers and at Sutherland for days like this when we go back and forward. Cheers

  • Hi again The trains ran really well on such a wet day, full marks to the gardeners on your railway it looks really great.

Yet another question which method do you use to uncouple locos? I have seen several ideas but cannot decide which to try yet.

    Well done another great video.

  • Cheers mate. And it did here as well but that didn't stop us 2 much...as you can probably see by some of the loco's later in the video! Thanks again.

  • Awesome Mate.

I wanted to run mine at the weekend, but it kept pissing it down! haha.

    Great Vid 5 Stars
