A day spent on my local line, the Avon Valley Railway, in the company of GJDobbzy. The railway was operating its timetable A service, which on this occasion was a steam day. The loco in action today was Robert Stephenson 0-6-0 No 7151. We started off our visit with a ride from Bitton to Avon Riverside, and then up to Oldland Common, which is where this video starts. We then walked back to Bitton station for some lunch, before going back to the crossing at the Oldland end of the station so see the train make its way to Oldland. After walking back past Bitton, we set up just after the station at the Riverside end of the station, watching the train through. Moving further down the line we saw the train make its way back up to Bitton on the long straight run from Riverside. We then moved down to Riverside station itself, saw the train arrive and run round, before making another trip up to Oldland on the train and then back to Bitton, filming the train depart with its final service of the day to Riverside.
the PW looks in dire need of restoring! Reminds me of some of the southern American narrow guage lines where staying on the 'road' is more by luck than judgment
