It's official. World Youth Day is finally here. The big event kicked off Tuesday night with an opening Mass in Madrid's Plaza de Cibeles, one of the city's main monuments. It was surrounded by thousands of young people, who traveled from every corner of the world.

  • @ddancerable Indignants = lazy people who can't get jobs. The ruling classes and the clergy = people the lazy people think should give them a job. I don't care what your opinions are on religion or the church but I think you should stop feeling oppressed and get some work, earn money, pay taxes and then argue with me.

  • @taxiride1 Well, if you are standing in a crowd you can hardly tell how many are there in the opposing crowd. But, I was not there so maybe you are correct..but it doesn't really matter now..your church (just like all churches and religions) are pretty fucked up and is gradually shrinking. And FYI, there are now more 'indignants' all over the world. The ruling classes and their minions in the clergy will soon suffer the same fate of all previous oppressors and exploiters.

  • @emajawjaw Persecuted??? In much of your fucking history your "Church" played the role of persecutor and mass executioner..you have sided with oppressive regimes just so your bishops and cardinals can still remain in power. It is a good thing that your church is gradually shrinking. I'd say its a victory for sanity and justice!

  • @ddancerable The Spanish would protest against the weather and they aren't just protesting, they're 'indignant' - melodramatic much. But there were more pilgrims than protesters.

  • @urlady21 thats extremely weird... why should people of other religions respect eachother if they all believe that the other group will burn in hell for eternity? does not make any sense. I show an equal amount of respect towards religions, which is none. Its not respectful to condemn me to eternity in hell for not believe in an idea, and its also pattently absurd.

  • @atimor not really. they are encouraged to participate in the WYD in order for them to be acquainted to the Catholics and for them to develop a sense of respect to people of other religions. members of other religions (esp. here in the Philippines) encourage Catholics to participate in their services so they'll be acquainted as well.

  • @urlady21 i didnt see very many people with muslim veils in this video... and non-catholics are encouraged to come so that they would maybe convert to the religion, because we all know the consequence of not being a sicafant to the idea of jesus being our saviour, right?

  • i have to see a Philippine flag in this video at least ONCE.

  • @atimor but non-Catholics are encouraged to participate in the WYDs. i even heard of stories of Muslims being in the WYDs.

  • Funny! There are more protesters than participants. Lol.
