A look into PA puppy mills. PA currently has the toughest kennel regulations in the US, but that doesn't mean that the illegal kennels aren't bad. The USDA has to strengthen their laws, and ban commercial kennels for good.

  • I live in Lancaster county Pa

and we have so many puppy mills here.

Peeple come here to visit from far away and

can get a dog for cheap from the Amish

but they ahve no clue how the dogs are

    kept!

  • I know...I live like 35 min. from lancaster. It's so sneaky what the Amish can hide, and as for the puppy buyers, they have no clue what goes on behind closed doors. It's such a shame.

Are you attending puppy mill awareness day this september in lancaster?

  • Why are this not against the law? I mean this is animal cruelty. I am so sorry for everything these puppies go through

  • This is animal cruelty. You are right. The problem is that the USDA inspects the kennels and as long as they abide by the rules they can be in business. Also, many of the mills in OH, PA, and other Amish communities are not registered. Their dogs are hidden in barns and debarked so no one knows they exist. It's all a very undercover operation. These puppies and adult dogs go through things that we cannot even imagine. That's why we must step in. Thanks for your comment.

  • I would take them all.....too bad we live in a insane world

  • Our world is really insane. I would take them all too, but people just want the puppies in the pet stores, so these dogs will be in these cages forever. It's really upsetting but true.

Please write to MICHAEL MOORE and ask him to make a film about this.

  • @Trisa1

I have heard about that. They breed those expensive breeds and also hear they are not well cared for and breed them to death...

  • Shut these people DOWN!

  • these people are sick! they need to b put in a cage and starved to death!

  • i dont think its your faultdont those puppies deserve chance too?

  • I feel bad about the puppies and me since I bought a puppy from a pet store (by mistake) and he got sick as soon as we reached home so I am willing to help the other puppies :)

  • this video breaks my heart over again

  • Great video!

My main goal in life is to become a lawyer, and make puppy mills in my state illegal it does't seem likley, but i am going to do anything i can to make it possible. The horrible thing is that if you have ever bought a puppy from almost any pet store, you have supported puppy mills. You should always adopt from a shelter like the Humane Society

  • Awful. I couldn't watch the whole thing. Should be prohibited by law.

  • You did not read my post very well. I didn't say that life in a small cage was ok. All I said that not all of the Amish and Mennonites who breed dogs run puppy mills. The Amish family I got my dog from kept their dog in the house with the family. She was a family pet, and that was not unusual. The only puppy mill I ended up seeing wasn't owned by Amish at all.
