@GHAriana I think in French, when you expect to see that person again you say: "Au revoir" (means See you again). When you don't think you would see that person again, you say: "Adieu". When you are going to die you say: "Adieu", you don't say "Au revoir"

In English usage, adios (Spanish) and adieu (French) are often contrasted with good-bye. The idea is while good-bye is final, what you say when you aren’t going to see the other person again, adios and adieu are not final, but imply that you will see the other person again.
Here, the general sense of the line is, more or less, "We’re parting now, but that parting isn’t forever." The next line of the song reinforces this idea: "Soon I’ll return..."
