Four guitars, four different tones. The neck pickup was used on each guitar to obtain a rock-jazzy-blues tone. The Ibanez AGS83 is a semi-hollow body guitar with size .011 strings. Very warm clear sound & a very well made guitar. The PRS SE has hot pickups, but the neck pickup has a warm sound and is good for blues/jazz. It is also a very easy guitar to play (very nice neck). The inexpensive Samick AV1 has a set of Epiphone pickups from a Les Paul Standard. The original pickups in the Samick were very poor. The Samick always impresses me, because the build of the guitar is extremely well made. It has a sound like a Les Paul (with the Epiphone pickups). The Fender Telecaster has its own unique classic sound. It is the sound heard on many recordings... always a great guitar to record with.

The guitars were played through a VOX Pathfinder 15R which is probably one of the best top five 15watt amps ever made (the sound is so responsive).

The sound was recorded through the mic on a video camera placed about five feet away.

  • sir may i ask if this samick av1 only needs a better pick ups replacement?? then it will become a beautiful guitar with great tone?

  • @daveghel23 Yes, exactly.

  • could you post either tab or chords?

  • @DJ027X First chord = Bar the 10th fret, then place finger on 12th fret "D" string, and 11th fret "B" string. Second Chord = Bar the 10th fret, then place finger on 12th fret "A" string. REPEAT those two chords again. Third Chord = Bar the 8th fret, then place finger on 10th fret "A" string. Fourth chord is same as second chord. Add small lead fills in between chords.

  • holy crap is that real deal 68 tele?

  • @JgHaverty Yep, that baby was made in 1968. Still plays very nice.

  • fender all the way.

  • @daveghel23 Yes. The original pickups have bad sounding. Go get the pickups fix according to your musical style and this guitar will stay with you for very long. I've been using mine for 4years. It's my first ever guitar.

  • Tele forever!!!!

  • PRS, definitely

  • Great idea. I like this side by side comparison. Much appreciated.

The Tele is in a class of its own. Apples and oranges.

Guitars are not rocket science, folks. Shop around. I have about 45 electric guitars and quality of playabiilty and tone no longer have much to do with the price sticker as they did in the 'old days'.

  • that telecaster is very sweet... but i prefer seymour duncan on the samick guitar... i have one and it has a seymour duncan on it's neck.. and the bridge is duncan distortion.. it plays nice with metal and blues..

  • At first, I thought the Ibanez at the beginning sounded the best until I heard you play the telecaster. Sounded much clearer than the others. Sounds like she's walking through the clouds by Jimi Hendrix? Not sure.

  • The Tele embarrass the others . . . not even a fair comparison . .
