One of the most cynical aspects of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy was that it encouraged people to slander and demogoge gay servicemembers or even deny our very existence, while preventing us from defending ourselves. Day after day I would go to work and hear sterotypes, anti-gay jokes and such, and I couldn't challange them. I couldn't say, "Hey, I'm gay and I'm not like that." For the first time in 17 years, I ACTUALLY feel like I can trust my battlebuddies and be part of the team.

@seraphimrock I'm gay and served for 23 years and loved every minute of it! I get a retirement check now. Your point?

Do you have to train people to be civil towards their colleagues? Just get on with the JOB!

@beirutvet1983 Pfft, I'm sick about the fact that you have a problem with gay people serving your country while your behind your computer being an ignorant asshole. GROW UP! We're in the 21st century.

All part of a sweeter gentler marine corps.
The biggest "homo" of all time, Alexander of Macedon, is the only reason we stand here today on western lands of our own - able to debate such things. So, just think about that. And think about how useless contemporary sexual constructs are, as well as the need to label people according to their sexual preferences. About 2 hundred years ago....throughout the rest of recorded history, we never had them. Variant sexuality is in each of us, whether we aknowledge its presence or not.

yeah......it really isn't, honestly what do people think is gonna happen? Regardless, the repeal has been passed and there hasn't been any sort of melt down so the point of arguing about it is moot.
