How can I prevent sapping of my DeepRock machine by enemy spies?
-
Nice machine but it has way to many moving parts. Even the best maintained clean rig will have dirt and mud ruin all those moving parts. Well drilling is not a clean factory job. Rods are weigh quite a bit and after a few hunderd hours of running that rod hander will get loose and will require man hands to line things up. Much respect to you but I don't think the tooling will have a long life span

Which drill rig do I need for doing geothermal?
Mac8088 2 years ago
All of DeepRock's commercial rigs can be used for geothermal work, even our smallest model, the DR20. Most commercial customers use the DR100, DR120,and DR150 for this work. The Otto loading arm has been especially popular with these drillers because one man can operate the rig while a helper goes about the work of installing the loop pipes.

How deep can you drill with this and will it drill through hard rock?
razorbacker1955 2 years ago
Our rigs are rated for different depths and conditions. The one in this video, the DR150, can drill to 600 feet routinely. If it is equipped with a down-the-hole hammer system, it can drill through the hardest rock. Speeds in rock are typically one-half to two feet per minute. Our smallest rigs, such as the DR20, can drill to 200 feet. Even the small rigs can use down-the-hole hammers, but they are more practical on the larger machines.

What kind of rig do I need to buy to get the otto arm? Also, what type of maintenance does this machine require?
HMiddelton 2 years ago
Maintenance on a DeepRock drill rig is like that of any heavy duty outdoor construction equipment. There are several filters that need replacing on a regular basis and grease points that need a daily shot of grease. The drillhead has a rotary seal system that typically needs replacing every few months (six bolts, ten minute job). The mud pumps will require normal replacement of wear parts . With routine cleaning and adjustment, the rest of the machine should go years between parts replacement.
