Joplin arranged the piece and wrote the last couple of strains. The first two strains are Chauvin's. But Joplin repeats the first strain before launching into his. Both Joplin's and Chauvin's strains are beautiful. One of the finest ragtime pieces from that era. Chauvin and Joplin both died of syphilis. Chauvin in 1908 at the age of 25 and Joplin in 1917 at 48.
