  • Oh cries.

Find me 2 autistic adults who endose autism speaks.

just two. in the whole world. 2 people.

  • I don't have that information and I am sorry you feel this weay. My family and I are advocating for an organization that puts money on early intervention programs like the one our son is part of at the University of Washington. Thanks to a grant funded by them, our son can speak now and continues to progress and have a fighting chance to be part of our society.

  • I do realize there is a lot of focus on early intervention and awareness and not enough is done for the adults with Autism. Granted, you are right about that but I can only hope that thanks to what's being done NOW for the many children diagnosed with Autism, these kids will have a better life than adults with Autism do now. Thank you.

  • Can he speak?

  • Yes, he is three and 1/2 and fully verbal. We are very blessed to be a part of a study through the University of Washington Autism Research Center. Our son was non-verbal as of 20 months and thanks to them, we have gotten him back. Early intervention is the key to treating Autism succesfully and programs like the ones sponsored by Autism Speaks offer a ray of hope to many families.

  • I'm an adult with Aspergers, and I support Autism Speaks. As an adult on the spectrum, I wouldn't want to be "cured", as this is the only life I've known, and what's "typical" for me. If I were much younger and I could have the chance to have a "typical" childhood, then I would probably do so given the option. Besides Autism Speaks greatly raising public awareness of Autism, I'm hopeful that DSM V will include Aspergers under autism, ensuring resource availability to all people with ASD's.

  • Great video! I'll be donating a little something. I'll make sure to see when there's a walk around my neck of the woods. Good Luck!
