@TheIrishReviver No, the old ways in this song wouldn't be paganism per se. Clannad is a deeply catholic band (the entire Brennan family is very Catholic). There could be other interpretations of "old ways." Not everything have to be about religion.

@elkeify Forgot to mention if you into Gaelic Pagan mythology/history all that lark look up 'Oisin' the warrior-poet who represents paganism while St Paddy stands for christianity.

Most people are also generally familiar with 'The Headless Horseman' who was meant to be a pagan god called 'Crom Cruich' but once Ireland converted he refused, lost his head and became an evil spirit.
