Our annual Altered Book Workshop display is just around the corner, so for week 35 of our Kansas sesquicentennial video series we thought it would be cool to feature our Book Art Collection. Book Arts look at the book as an art object, expanding on its mere functionality and familiar format while maintaining the essence of the "book" as a container of information. To get a better sense of this interesting art form, visit Books Outside the Binding, our most recent book art exhibit from 2008-2009: http://www.flickr.com/photos/topekalibrary/sets/72157610553157989/

(Continued...) On the other hand, one could argue that the internet resembles a choose-your-own-adventure story where the user/reader determines the outcome based on the links they choose to follow. Then Google (or any search engine) would become the table of contents or index to the internet/book. What do you think?

Hey, neocyberwarrior, excellent question. Is the internet the content of a book? That depends on your definition of a book. If a book has to follow a linear narrative path with a deliberate beginning and end, then I would say no, the internet is not a book.
