In August of 2011, a small porbeagle shark was spotted in St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. Porbeagle sharks, often confused with shortfin mako sharks, can be differentiated by a distinctive white patch on the trailing edge of the first dorsal and a secondary keel on the caudal fin.
