Oh my God this is going to wear on me now. I need to hear what the Jazz sounded like live in '81!

@66TJP neither was there a time machine

New version is now up on youtube.
Thanks everyone.
I'm glad you like it.
Glad I took the time to film it.
There wasn't a "youtube" back in 1981.

that would be great to match this to a bootleg, but there's no way of knowing wich track is played when...
-
Agree with trevizons below...the Dry Ice/Double Neck Rickenbacker/Double neck Gibson part is definitely Xanadu. This is awesome video. I was at the Tulsa show later that month.

damn geddy put his bass high for the last few tours b4 he switched from his Rick.
he still got a badass tone on it, OMG I LOVE IT SOOOO MUCH!!!
-
Nice footage, my personal era ! I believe it's Xanadu after 5:00 because of the double neck guitars .

@RollTheFemers I know this video doesn't show it ,but they did have a video backdrop. I saw this concert live. I remember the scene of a winding road being projected on a huge screen during "Red Barchetta." and the typical spotlight arraingements of the time....This brings back great memories, Thanx for posting this.

Hello everyone,
There will be a better (clearer and better framed hopefully) verion of this old footage sometime down the line. Hopefully synched with audio.
I am the person that filmed this Super 8mm footage of Rush.
I have the original reels and those reels will be copied to digital again sometime this year by progarchive. They made a good film of some other 1981 footage.
Hope you all enjoy the trip back in time to the old International Ampitheatre, in Chicago, IL 3/1/81.
thats great quality. any ideas on the songs there performing in the video. the first 2 minutes look like it could be freewill

I have NO IDEA. :-P It really could be anything. They didn't have those light shows and video backdrops back then -- otherwise it'd be easy to tell...
