In this video, Robert C. Fauver, a former US G8 sherpa and now president of Fauver Associates LLC, contextualizes the American priorities and approaches to the 2009 L'Aquila G8 summit. As host of the next G20 summit in Pittsburgh, Mr. Fauver suggests that Barack Obama must attempt to coincide the agendas of the G8 and G20 on economic issues. Progress may be made on climate change cooperation and joint statements on Iran and North Korea are likely, however, major progress on the economic agenda is unlikely. With an expanded slate of issues, he suggests that there is a certain amout of lost opportunities of addressing core economic concerns at the leaders' level.
