Having said that about Jeanine, I don't understand what the producers were thinking by giving Melanie so many dances within her genre. I think most people would agree that constantly performing similar genres is detrimental.

Melanie could have pulled off a Rumba with Marko (to capitalize on their chemistry) or a Paso Doble. The producers clearly wanted Melanie in the Top 4, but it's like they were scared of giving her something completely out of her comfort zone, for fear that she'd mess up.

@bedour1z I meant her Russian Folk Dance was "memorable" for the wrong reasons cuz it was sooooo bad.

OK people who are all so obsessed over the fact of camera angles and close ups and this whole thing about Melanie saying she was figuring out her solo backstage. Are you all forgetting about Allison Holker's top 20 dance for your life solo from season 2?? She said herself that she totally improved her whole solo, that she had no idea what she was going to do ahead of time and the cameras kept up with her as well. There is always a slight lag in live television in case someone gets hurt!!

@ladybug7399 Are you also forgetting that Nigel afterwards scolded the dancers for doing too much improv'ing. Besides that was so long ago plus on the old stage and they mostly used wide angles with the cameras on the solos.

I was in the audience and it was SOOOOO much better live. Serious goosebumps. The whole crowd burst into a standing ovation. Sonya Tayeh was grabbing her head and shaking it in disbelief. All the judges and choreographers were going nuts. This girl is sick. Period. Mesmerizing with such a natural musicality and performance quality that the other contestants can't even touch. She better win.

Sasha had Cont.,HH,Cont.,HH,Paso,Jazz,HH­,Quickstep,Jazz,Cont.,Whacking

Melanie had Cont.,Jazz,HH,Jazz,Tango, Cont., Waltz, Cont., Jazz,HH,Broadway

Im pretty sure Sasha had a hip-hop background (not just African Style Cont.), so IMO I dont see her getting "challenged" with the hip-hop routines except for maybe Whacking...

I dont see why every1 is ganging up on Melanie when her and Sasha both only had TWO ballroom dances. I think they are pretty even as far as getting "babied" in the show.

That is besides the point.

The point is, Melanie is an amazing dancer.

Yes, she may not be the most technical, but the girl's got charm.

She has the "je ne sai quoi".

Say what you want, she had me at hello (aka when she said that she used to wear a helmet because she was a hypochondriac).

@bedour1z the producers don't pick the dances or genre you dance they are all selected at random... the dancers themselves have to pull it out of a hat that reveals the genre and choreographer...

@mattyg55 I'm sorry, I wish I could tell you! I totally lucked out. My close friend was going with her coworkers and one of them flaked. I highly suggest though, so cool live. The place is actually really small. The camera angles make it look way bigger. The best part is how loud the music is. You feel the base so it totally amplifies their movements.
