  • I have the complete sign-off on VHS tape. I had to splice the recording because of two separate video VOB files; hence the splice at 00:29. I might re-transfer at later date.

  • i love the new granada theme music. Much better than the national anthem.

  • Oh my god, what a terrible line-up for a Thursday night..I do remember the continuity announcers from the late 80s to the late 90s, but what a gap in the schedule. No programming till 9:35am, no breakfast television even back then wow! But Granada had the warmest people of all the regions. My mum said if i woke up after having a bad dream, i would fall asleep on her lap listening to Charles Foster saying have a safe and peaceful night. Funny what kids find comforting.

  • I'm the 9000th viewer! Yay me!

  • That continuity man is talking too fast.

  • I think your date is wrong... One of the programmes being promoted for the following day was live coverage of Yugoslavia v Honduras in the World Cup, which would make this the end of programming on 23 June 1982 (not 19 May).

  • Granada was also on Channel 9 as well as Channel 59 until 1985.

  • Jim Pope, Colin Weston and Graham James seemed so down to earth as presenters - wish we had continuity announcers like that on STV

  • A beardless Jim Pope is in the continuity booth here.

  • Love it and brings back memorys watching Granada with a snowy picture we were well out of the broadcasting area but could pick it up gave us another channel to watch it was 82 and sky and channel 4 wasnt even broadcasting! Great!

  • There's not many ITV continuity announcers that can make me laugh out loud with their dry wit and deadpan delivery - but Jim did on numerous occasions. A true great, sadly missed.
