Original airdate: November 21, 1983. Big Bird and Mr, Snuffleupagus run together in the New York City Marathon. (At least Snuffy tries, but one delay after another holds him back for the whole race!) Susan and Gordon, who have given Big Bird a ride to the starting line, still refuse to believe Snuffy is real whenever Big Bird mentions his friend's problems. Unfortunately for Snuffy, the majority of adults won't see him for another two years! :-(

Other notable highlights:

* Cartoon: The Two-Two Train
* Two-Headed Monster sounds out the word "run"
* Song: "Doll House" (filmed with the doll house built for Jim Henson's daughters)
* Sesame Street News: Kermit tries to find the Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe, but meets several other accessory-dwellers along the way
* Swedish Number Animation: Two farm animals (Owe Gustafson)
* Live film: Roadrunner (background music by Joe Raposo)
* Ernie gives Bert's baby nephew (Brad) too many bathtub toys
* Cartoon: K for Kite
* Live film: Counting 10 clowns (forwards and backwards) as they leave and re-enter a small car
* Cartoon: Small K for Kiss
* Monsterpiece Theater: "Chariots of Fur"
* Joe Raposo sings "Everybody Run"
* Game show: "Say the Word"; one contestant must trick another into saying the secret word (STOP)
* Live film: kids "stop" dancing on command
* Cartoon: Beetle Bailey tries to avoid being last in the chow line, but his trick backfires
* Wheelchair races at the Special Olympics
* Animation: "Geometry of Circles" (sections of a color wheel are painted in order)
* Song: "Proud" (Little Jerry and the Monotones)

  • I'm sure they'll probably release the full version of this episode (as well as 1839 and ten other Season 15 episodes) as part of the Sesame Street Classics Season 15 on iTunes in the future.

  • @Deanmo23: If iTunes' other classic packages follow the pattern they used for the first, it will be Seasons 5/10/15, with four shows from each. If you had to guess which three episodes from Season 15 (besides Hooper's death announcement) would make the cut, which come to mind first?

  • could you upload the episode when they do see him?

  • @Drewit1: The only copy I have now is out of sync and very fuzzy; if I get a better copy any time soon, I'll upload it.

  • 44:05 Sally Struthers!!!!! :D

  • At 50:40 can you imagine waking up from a quick cat nap and actually seeing them two standing outside your car window? That would be pretty intense!

  • @ISNorden For season 5, it would be episodes 536 (Season 5 premiere), 573, 605, and 659. For season 10, it would be episodes 1200, 1229, 1294, and 1315 (Season 10 finale). Finally, for season 15, it would be episodes 1836 (Season 15 premiere), 1850, 1876, and 1914.

  • Wow

  • I'm hard-of-hearing, & there was a LOT of noise in the background.

    What was the conversation between Susan & Gordon from 29:43 to 29:50?

    What was the conversation between Maria & Olivia from 40:53 to 41:08?

    Was that Sally Struthers at 44:10?
