Marchmont Street has Happy Snaps, Costa Coffee, Fitness First and a Boots looking out onto it. That's neither 'almost' or 'entirely' free from chain shops.
This video is good, but could be better worded to warm people to the joys of buying independently as I do on Marchmont Street.
Great video. Marchmont Street traders have been feeling the impact of the recession, so it's good to see the community turning out in force to celebrate what's an excellent local high street.
Where else can you browse a gay book shop, do an entirely organic weekly shop whilst getting some DIY essentials and posting a parcel?
P.S I don't think the Marchmont Festival has quite the same edgy feel as the Pet Shop Boys' King's Cross!
