The Orca class is a ship class of eight steel-hulled Canadian navy Training Tenders. Loosely based on the Australian-designed Pacific-class patrol boat, the Orca class was constructed by Victoria Shipyards between November 2004 and November 2008, at a total project cost of C$90.7 million. All eight are based at CFB Esquimalt in British Columbia. They replaced the YAG 300 class and primarily operate as training platforms and surveillance craft.

  • LOL, I was assigned to ORCA 55 when this was taken!

  • is that you filling your face on the stern? LOL

    I took the video last summer(summer 2011)

  • What class of boats does Canada use to do patrol? as the Aussies use the Arm-idle class but the orca looks the closest despite being a training boat.

  • I think the Halifax Class frigate

  • @capnvancouver No, that isn't me. I guess I was slaving away over ECPINS at that point.

  • @swisscosmo We use MCDVs for patrol. Australia uses the Armidale class.

The Orca is based on the Pacific-Class.

  • @swisscosmo Maritime Coastal Defense Vessels (MCDVs) are used for coastal and inter-coastal patrol

  • Awesome boat.

  • I have pictures of all of them. There cool ships.
