Oh trust me, I'm not a "slut shamer" or anything like that - women can wear WHATEVER they want. However, whatever a woman's intentions might be, the male-led industry medium is exploitative enough for that message to be completely devalued. Female singers are put in such videos every day for the express purpose of objectification. The fact that female singers are in one such video, with the same exploitative male directors, producers etc for a "good reason" seems somewhat unbelievable.

Well, dancing in incredibly skimpy outfits is the whole point of resisting objectification. It shows that a woman should be able to dress however she wants without being seen as an object for someone's pleasure or degraded for showing natural parts of her body.

You know what? You're absolutely right, fair enough. But do you honestly think that Beyonce and Lady Gaga successfully defeated the objectification of women by dancing in incredibly skimpy outfits? It'd be satire if they didn't do it in every other video of theirs, but as they do, you could tell me 'Videophone' was about the Armenian Genocide or Blair Peach and I'd feel justified in raising my eyebrows at the fact they thought that was the best way of expressing their opinion.

Music doesn't have to be articulate in order to express something, take this song for example.

Beyoncé AND Lady Gaga. And yes, I'm sure it was the most artistically valid and articulate expression of Feminism since Angela Carter....

I think you'll find that was Beyoncé, and the song is about the objectification of women so

Wow. You've heard of Teenage Jesus & the Jerks. I think we can call off the search, we've found the new John Peel. Micachu makes the music she wants. And she makes it brilliantly. Other than name dropping No Wave, did you have a point?
