Free New York episode #427, "Goodbye, CBGB," takes a look at the last night CBGB was open, on October 15, 2006. Several fans of the club tell us their opinions of and experiences at CBGB, including legendary Lower East Side musician David Peel.
...was at CBGBs a few times. Saw the Dead Boys, Richard Hell, Xavier at 12 fuckin' around, Legs McNeal's drivel...Blondie, Patti, Corpse Grinders, Ex-Dolls groups(many!), and many more...RIP, CB's!
Saw gorilla biscuits in 06,and bouncing souls in 05, so I may not be an expert on the fucking place, but that dosnt give you the right to be such a fucking prick on youtube.
I lived at #9 and #10 Bleecker, on and off, from 1979, when I was 15 years old, to 1982, when I graduated teh High School, and was out here on the sidewalk too, and have the pics of David Peel to prove it, but not any audio of Hilly yelling at me, one last time, as he was leaving, (damn), and all I have to say is, thank you, Young Man, for this elegant, forensic description of these events.
You certainly know your history, and it shows, excellent job.

I was 16 yrs old , lived in CT, in 1969. I lied to parents, hitched to NYC & saw David at (I think) the FIRST Earth Day.
He was singing "Have a Marijuana" and we all danced and laughed. When age ok, I also went to CBGB.
Now I live in gay ol' San Franc. & at 55, carry on the tradition !
