The Soviet Chessmaster Rashid Nezhmetdinov was one of the most feared attacking players in chess history. Although not well known in the west, he won many brilliancy prizes and defeated most of the best players of his era, including Mikhail Tal, Boris Spassky, David Bronstein, Efim Geller, Lev Polugaevsky, Isaak Boleslavsly, Salo Flohr, Andor Lilienthal, Gideon Stahlberg, and many other strong grandmasters.

  • what is that footage at 13:45!!

  • @isedairi That footage is from a Russian documentary on Tal: "Meeting with Mikhail Tal in Ostankino (1988)." It has not been translated into English. The comment from Tal in my video at 13:45 is not actually what he's saying on screen. It's from his eulogy of Nezhmetdinov, which I found in the Russian edition of Nezh's autobiography. I translated the eulogy with the Google translator- one Russian letter at a time. It took me two days to do that.

  • Wonderful ! Your videos are getting better and better and they were very good to begin with ! Really great work ! Thanks alot !

  • @Vonzi0000 Thanks Vonzi, and it's very good to see you again! It's been ages.

  • Wow, this is a biography worthy of the television! Very professional, in my opinion, very entertaining.

  • CooL aLL channel is CooL

  • Thanks for all the work you put into this, I sure enjoy and learn a lot from your videos !

  • I stay up way too late watching your videos. Great job! The naration is a welcome addition.

  • You got a lot very insightful videos. But i would really love you to do a Capablanca series. He led a pretty unique life in his own right and deserves a biography. Not to mention he was the greatest natural player of all time. Take away opening prep and cpu assistance and he'd wipe the floor with everyone alive with ease. Yet nobody has taken the time to put out a bio on him. Give the man his due!!!

  • The comments are very well balanced , informative but relatively short @ the same time , which is rare quality (by comments i mean film footage together with storytelling ). Romantic chess trip through the times long gone =)

  • Well worth the wait! You gather much into a clear biography series that is very well put together ~ Thanks for taking the time and effort to let us learn about Nezhmetdinov jessicafisherqueen!

  • great biography as always. I am always amazed with these, the photos and video footage you find for these, seems like a great deal of effort was put into this especially. I wasn't aware of all the accomplishments of Nezhmetdinov, I really enjoyed it. thanks JFQ!
