Ernest Tubb is one of my all-time favorite country artists. I treasure his warmth and personality into his singing. thanks for posting ..Erik Tielman, Florida
@jaymay1105 Im a BIG Ernest Tubb fan.You Texas boys must be the strongest men the whole Usa.Is it all the Ox fighting or what is it?.Look at George Jones and how hard he lived. He is still with us. Ernest lived a long time too. He worked over time all his life.
All us Texas boys like ole ET......he was a great guy, helped lots of young performers and was famous not only at the Grand Ole Opry but across the USA. Rest in peace ole Friend.............
Ernest recorded a song around 1955 called "Thirty Days" . Around 1958 Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins recorded "40 Days" as a rock song. "I'm gonna see you be back home in forty days". I think he stole this from Ernest as the words are identical accept for 'forty' days. I still have a 45 RPM recording of Ronnie's version and it states Hawkins as the composer. Does anyone have a post of Ernest's "Thirty Days"?.
This wasn't Billy Byrd. It is Pete Mitchell, the last guitarist in the Troubadours before Ernest died. Billy played with the band from 1949 to 1959, then made a brief tour with them in the mid-1970s. In addtion, this isn't the original recording of this nugget; Ernest first had it out in 1943 when his guitarist was Jimmie Short.
No greater legend in country music than the great Ernest Tubb!

Billy Byrd was a tasteful understated guitarist who contributed to the Ernest Tubb sound.
