I am showing you how to play a basic double stroke roll. You are going to play two notes on each, and once you get better those notes will turn into a roll. A mistake people make is focusing on tiring to get the sticks to bounce, or buzz. This will lead to a bad sounding roll. Just play the notes like this, and eventually a roll will come I PROMISE! Try this on a phone book or towel for a while and your roll will come easier once you move back to a drum or pad. You can also play matched grip. Have fun.

  • @zedleppelin031 Yeah, when I made this I was still healing from a broken left hand so I played really un-even for a few months

  • im sorry but your traditional sucks.lol

  • No offence here, i know its really sloppy, i broke three of my fingers not to long ago and my grip has been messed up ever since, its getting better though, i started tapeing my bottom fingers in place and it has helped a lot.

  • So many expert commentators...I bet half of you can't even keep time much less do a decent roll.

Stop spending so much time in Guitar Center show rooms.

  • haha...watch my vids youngblood

  • you dumb

  • @jhs9412 lol u tell em

  • You're stupid. I don't like matched grip and think that traditional grip is better, but you don't see me going around telling people that matched grip is stupid. Either technique works fine and are good techniques to use. Just make sure that everyone in the line is using the same grip.
