Three separate clips (now combined) of Hulcher cranes lifting wheel assemblies onto a flatbed trailer at MP 218 in Templeton CA on Sun 4 Feb 2007. The wheel assemblies are from AMTK 182 (shown briefly at the beginning) which derailed the front truck in Santa Margarita the previous Friday.

  • How can Hulcher pay so little in Pa.? For what they pay I made as an operator back in 1983. I wouldn't get out of bed for what they pay.

  • awesome video great job five stars

  • 5 STARS .

  • I saw equiptment like that when UP had the derailment at Rogge Lane in the town of Aromas, California in the year 2003.

  • So that's how they change flat tires on a train!

  • those are traction motors for a locomotive. they weight about 10,000 lbs or so. the wheels on the truck are dummy axles. they get installed so the locomotive can get to an engine shop.

  • How much does these wheel assemblys weight? nice video!

  • Nice video, I have had the chance to watch Hulcher in action 2 or 3 times here in SE Wisconsin. Pretty inpressive to see in action.

  • love the equipment

  • its either a 572 or 583 pipelayer( we call them sidebooms)
