unique bowing! very creative...

@julienlego Thanks, I will focus on those. I can play Prelude 2 only with the score, so I guess I'll try memorizing it! :D

@Yahshuaismylamp Try mastering Suite 1 prelude or Suite 2 prelude. The notes aren't extremely challenging and when you've perfected the song it sounds absolutely divine. And it never hurts to plan ahead. Good luck! :)

@julienlego I hope to learn it well enough so that maybe I can audition for a college once I graduate. I really don't know how to go about being a traveling soloist like Mischa Maisky or any other cellists. I know it's a bit early, but I really want to plan ahead for my career.

@julienlego That's alright haha. I am going to start working on it more in the Fall I think. I really need to exercise my thumb position, so I've been practicing Prelude No.3 for a long time to sort of help it and callus up my thumb. I've thought about getting a private tutor, but I'm a Freshmen in High School, so I still have time! :)

@Yahshuaismylamp Sorry, I didn't mean to sound snobish or anything. I was speaking in a more playful-ish manner. I knew that you wanted to share what you were working on (like I did about mastering Suite 1 prelude). Good luck on Suite 6. It'll be extremely hard, but the product of that work will be something beautiful for any living creature on this planet. I'm sure of it.

@gulliver9 I learn mostly by listening to others play the songs that I am learning on the Cello! Keep doing what you are doing! I've found that it is EXTREMELY helpful to be able to listen to different interpretations, and to look at the different ways that a certain artist plays.

@julienlego Where did you come up with that comment? All I said is that I want to start learning them. Heck it'll take me 10 years or longer to perfect them, but that's okay. I never said it wasn't hard, and I am aware of the difficulty. I have already 'looked' at all of the suites. I know they're tough to play, and that is why I didn't start them just yet. But I want to challenge myself. I didn't mean my last comment to be snooty or anything... I was just trying to share what I was working on.

@Yahshuaismylamp 6th Suite? You're kidding right? Those songs are insanely hard to play, let alone perfect. That's why they're considered one of the hardest songs to play on the cello. Just look at Suite 6 Prelude to know what I'm talking about (thank you lack of an E string).

@vegettogohan Definitely! I'd love to see this guy play live...
No comparisons are necessary. Mr. Yang's performance is simply outstanding and remarkable. I have now tried to listen to all the other videos of Mr. Yang's playing that are available. One final thought, playing Bach on a modern cello, using a minimum of vibrato and an incredible sensitivity to the pace and articulation of every note - well... I'm really quite bowled over. Thanks, Mr. Yang. What a grand tribute to Herr Bach.
