Here is an instrumental version of the song using a Magic Bop C7 in Gm. That's the key I sing it in--IT'S STILL HIGH!

  • i think it can be played on diationic 3rd position for a more

    'minor' feel?

  • @Rockers1957 This may be true, until you get to the chorus, where the melody is unavailable except as an overblow (altho it is a draw bend in the first octave).

As far as a more minor feel, be as minor as you wish--

  • OK, Brendan calls this tuning the Power Chromatic (even tho it is a diatonic tuning) so I shall refer to it as PC from now on.

Thanks to all for your kind comments.

    Gary

  • This just in . . .

Famous harmonica technician/player Brendan Power says he invented this tuning.

I will refer to it from now on as IV6/V6, pronounced "four six five six".

It's really useful for certain things.

  • hi GaryLehmann,my name is prechafolk from thailand south-east asia, pleas see my show if you can...nice that i see your clip at youtube..

  • I like the jazz part after the main section [1:43] and it comes back to the original theme [2:39] so perfectly. You're wonderful!

  • It's a specialty tuning--I did it myself, but got the tuning from the Internet--

    blow reeds are Bb D F G

    draw reeds are C E G A

So by my reckoning it's a Bb harmonica.

But I refer to it as a C7--that would be cross harp if it were a regular tuning.

    And Gm would be 3rd position . . .

    But it isn't 8)

BTW, the pattern repeats every four holes and it is the same in every octave--

Something you can't say about regular tuning.

Also you can draw bend every missing note save one!
