Back in the day we would also coat the clamps with grease to seal them from oxidizing... do you concur?

batteries outgas and basically consume the acid and water mix.. to keep a battery in good shape you have to replace the lost fluid with water "deionized water if available"
Otherwise your battery will loose its power in a short amount of time
