Todays topic is Street harassment. Cat-calling, whistling, honking wolf whistle etc......
My experiences are a litle different to some of the other girls on this channel.....but I think that has a lot to do with the difference in location.....I live in the uk - and I do think that cat calling and street harrasment appears to be more of an issue in the USA .
I don't get offended with the builders wolf whistling as you walk past......but there is a line and I think that it all depends on the situation and what is said.....

I disagree - I talked about women wolf whistles too I even said girls can be just as bad as boys.......and made sure that I talked about both the behaviours of women and men....in the caveman anaolgy I was talking about groups of people - and if there are any specific male references - then I am talking merely from my own experience - which has been with men acting that way and not women......I am certainly not saying that women dont act like this -

i think it depends on the circumstance. if a guy won't stop cat calling or is using offensive language then it can be taken in a negative way. just a thought.

I agree - abusive cat calling and shouting is a different matter and something I have never experienced.....I was talking about a simple wolf whistle.....it definetly depends on the situation :+) xxx lucie

I am totally offended by yelling out at women in the street. it's almost never meant as a complement to a particular women, but just saying 'she is woman, they are for sex.' I am not only a women presented for the sexual interest of men standing on the street, but an individual with feeling. Since there attention is more about self gratification and status with in their group, I object to being used in such a way, with no regard for me as in individual. it's the definition of objectification.

The definitions seem different, but really they are the same behavior. A man believes he is entitled to publicly reduce a woman to her sex appeal, so he tells everybody about it obnoxiously.

The definition you saw in the American dictionary is more accurate. It is derision, because the woman is expected to enjoy being reduced.

what do you expect... women today dress fucking sexy the clothes are so tight the breasts are spilling outta the top and the ass is so finely shown... your going to atract men.. and caveman days.. we all have basic instincts that drive attraction that never changes its only this idea that we all progressive now that tries to hide the fact. when im with my girlfriend somtimes i tell her to leave a sexy blouse on cause its more erotic that being naked!

If "Wolf Whistling" is a Guy admiring a Girl, Then Shouldnt "Cat Call" be a Girl Admiring a Guy? thats the way I see it should be..

Also Good Point on seeing that its a Compliment. Although they can be Too Vulgar from time to time, IT IS Ultimately a Compliment.

Oh Sweetie :/ Don't you think that maybe the fact that whistling is an expected practice is the problem? They aren't whistling/honking because they like *you*, they're whistling because they like your body. Like that's all you are to them. Now, theres nothing wrong with being proud of yourself, but your self-esteem shouldn't rely solely on your looks and how others percieve you. The whistling is just a problem to me because I am more than my looks or body. I want to be treated like a person.
