Why is Mexico such a basket case? While the United States has problems, it also implements solutions. The most valid argument against opening the border is that the remittances from the US end up funding corruption, oppression, and failure in Mexico. If we allow open immigration, what reason do the people in Mexico have to change?
Finally, if Mexico actually does collapse or become a different kind of disaster, what protection do we have if we've opened our borders?
