The Extreme Mustang Makeover Western Stampede was held in Fort Worth, TX September 18-20, 2009. 100 approved horse trainers had 100 days to train 100 wild mustangs.

Gilbert Chee from Tsaile, Arizona trained his barely-3-year-old mustang Windtalker for 100 days, teaching him to ride with a bit. On the day of the competition, Gilbert saw the Nurtural Bitless Bridle for the first time and decided to give it a try in hot pink!
There are 4 parts to this video:
1.It begins with a brief look at the compulsory in hand competition.
2.In the practice ring, just hours before the contest, Gilbert rode Windtalker first in the bit so we could see how he behaved.
3.Then for the first time ever, he rode in the Nurtural Bitless Bridle. Watch how Windtalker adapts to the unique pressure-and-release signals of the Nurtural Bitless Bridle.
4.Gilbert and Windtalker were great fan favorites as he dedicated his ride in the pink Nurtural Bitless Bridle to cancer awareness in honor of his mother.

  • hi ya all , well its not that you think about your weight , its not about who can ride a horse , its all about being ON EXTREME MUSTAING MAKEOVER , lets see all you people thats talking shit to try it , at least i got my horse to ride , ps this the man himself , yours truely gilbert

  • Yes indeed Gilbert! That comment was totally uncalled for. Would you like me to delete it entirely?

There are too many armchair experts who like to pick at those of us who get out and do things!

Hope you are well and happy!

  • Its spelled Navajo NOT Navaho

  • Thank you. I corrected it.

  • Thank you. My sincere apologies. I corrrected it in the posted text and will fix any titles in the video as soon as I can find a spare moment.

  • I'm guessin the problems aren't with JUST the bit, although I'm sure the bitless helped a great deal. Someone that big in size has no business being on a horse that small though. All worried about the pain of a bit but not the pain being inflicted on this horse's back. Just sad.

  • Please see Gilbert's response. It takes a great deal of talent to train a wild mustang. The riders do not choose their mustangs, they are picked at random.

  • Wow, I better re-think adopting a wild Mustang! Or give me a big horse. Never know you might see me on youtube, with Extreme Mustang Makeover. If I were to comment I would think that the horse is very lucky to have an owner because even one horse is very expensive.

  • I need to add this Im Gilbert,s nephew i just let him use my acount to add somthing

  • Great testimony to the bitless bridle, it shows that even someone who should not be allowed on a horse, who has no idea how to ride, will do a lot less damage with the bitless bridle. Imagine how amazing this horse would be with a normal size rider who knows what they are doing on a horse. The BLM needs to be more responsible about who they allow to adopt a Mustang.

  • @autumnwear For real. That horse might be happier if his rider didn't weigh 350 lbs. That horse isn't big enough for a rider that big. Dayum.
