What's cooking at Tokyo's International Food Machinery and Technology Expo? For this robo-chef, it's okonomiaki, Japanese pancakes. One of a crew of cyborg servers dishing out the latest at the industry event, Toyo Riki President Narito Hosomi says robots aren't just for factory use. [Narito Hosomi, Toyo Riki Engineering President]: "We all know that robots can be very useful. We want to take that utility out of the factory, so that they can be used elsewhere." For traditional diners, sushi is on the menu courtesy of Kyoto-based Squse. Masanori Hirano says while most prefer to know who's cutting their fish, A-I cuisine does have its advantages. [Masanori Hirano, SQUSE Robotics Division]: "If a human does this job, it can be stressful. And if so, then they can leave the work to the robot." Japan, home to almost half the world's 800,000 industrial robots, is seen as a $10-billion market within a decade, while robots currently work as temporary staff, aides for the elderly, and perhaps soon in some of the finer dining establishments across the globe.

  • this is bullshit, if a chef is tired then fine, leave it to the robots, but in my opinon, no robot or machine, CAN OR SHOULD SURPASS THE LEVELS OF COOKING THAN A HUMAN. food is good because of not only technique, but PASSION to its dishes
