There are special attacks? Anyway, my friend came over and we just randomly decided to play this for the first time in years.

the dreamcast version of this game is probably the best looking one that came out on a home console.

Yup, I can't remember the exact combinations (consult the manual?) - but there's special attacks and 3 ways (I think) of using potions. You usually have to press 2 buttons at once and they're pretty cool for the most part. There's 3 levels of them per a character - but levels 2 (yellow) and 3 (purple glowing) are the most interesting ones.

That charging thing just knocks them down with minimal damage and drains the special bar quickly (basically, it's a waste unless you're surrounded).
