Artist: Andy Kirshner
Description:
There's one in every crowd -- and sometimes you happen to be sitting right next to him.
This one of the "Five Ways to Pass the Time," a series based on stories told by Andy's rascal of a grandfather, Edward D. Bierer (1907-1999). Doc Bierer, who practiced medicine in rural Armstrong County, PA, was a storyteller of consummate skill. He also was not above embellishing his well-worn stories slightly, for purely "literary" reasons, of course. (His wife Esther -- who can be heard in these stories as well -- always said he was a big liar.)
Andy made these recordings toward the end of his grandfather's life, but he has just now begun to give each story a video "treatment." He hopes you can imagine sitting in between Ed and Esther on a long car trip -- in a plush vinyl seat -- as you enjoy this story.
