I have Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) and Dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking). I kept it secret for a lot of my life, and haven't talked about it until now. Many people have heard of the disorder, but many people are unaware of the emotional stress that sufferers endure.

  • I've got it too. It sucks and I don't know how to stop.

  • I have both of those disorders as well.

  • Watch my video about my obsessive skin picking. Your not alone :)

  • thanks for the video. It must have been really difficult to you to speak about that in front of a camera. I have got the same problems since I'm 10 and I think it will never end. And I really hate me, I think this is the biggest problem. I want to be perfect... mit I always make me unperfect by this behaviour.

  • Thanks for the video. I can relate 100% to your description of the condition. I have the same problem and have been fighting with a zit in my left eyebrow for 2 years. I just can't leave it alone. I decided to stop wearing a beard (shaving every day now) because I kept pulling the hair out of the left side of my face. Idle hands are a big problem. Good luck.

  • I can so relate. I have trich too and I've just noticed how all people who have it just have serious nervous disorder, cannot just allow imperfections and are usually really hard on themselves and self-chastising. I can see you really have those last two there, but good on your for fighting the urge to actually pull, that's the hardest thing ever and takes a lot of awareness. I've kinda taken the easy route and got my hair belted down under a weave so good on you!

  • I'm sure there is something you could take?? I use to bite my nails really bad, I have stopped biting most of my nails but still bite my thumb nails.

You are a gorgeous girl, please try to find help!

  • i can not stop picking

  • i have tric as well and i have found a way to help make it stop

  • you just sound sad

  • @86harmony You need to tell somebody about this. Tell a doctor, it's confidential so no one else will have to find out. They can get you cognotive therapy treatment which sounds scary but it's just like talking to a councellor and finding out the root cause of why you do this. Once you know why, you can learn to avoid/control those trigger situations so that you can limit the amount of times you do it. If you feel that your doctor isn't listening to you ask for another one aswell! & Good luck!

  • i have that too but i kinda stop but i still find myself doing it from time to time :/
