Who of them is Handel?

And if you want to know more, when Handel ask for the job of maestro al cembalo for the opera «cleopatra» it seems he wasn't the only candidate and after the audition, he got outside...just to found himself surround by the concurrence...and stabbed in the chest by the sword of one of them. Luckily, he was saved by the bold partition of the opera hidden in his mantle. Well! I'd kinda understand Handel to quit this crazy city for Italia...(no offense guys...)

This sort of a long story! When Handel lived in hamburg (violonist at the opera), he met Mr. Mattheson. Mattheson protect Handel and even found him harpsichord student. But gradually, the tension rose between them. At the end of Mattheson's cleopatra, Mr. M was supposed to quit the scene to go play a piece on the harpsichord. But Handel was there and just refused to leave his place. Mr. M. looked so stupid, he got mad and the duel began shortly after. They made up after:o)

Why did they duel and when?
Use the search string "The Wandering Maestro" in Google and you will find something... (e.g. avaxhome.ws/music/classical/Great_composers_Handel.html)
