Network Management with NetMRI: Leveraging Network Issues

Netcordia's NetMRI network performance and configuration and change management software makes it easy to discover and diagnose network problems before they cause major issues. NetMRI automatically monitors data from SNMP configuration and syslog and compares it against hundreds of best practices and standards to find potential issues--typically well before a traditional event management system triggers an alarm. Instead of looking only at performance or config data, NetMRI analyzes both find potential problems other tools would never see.

When NetMRI identifies symptoms for a potential problem, it generates an issue, and assigns it a severity rating. Many NetMRI users start their day by looking through the issue list, using it as a "to do" checklist of issues that need attention. With each issue, you can drill down easily to find more information, such as descriptions and suggestions for remediation. You can also select devices by their IP addresses, and see all issues associated with that device. Remediation is as simple as scheduling a job specific to that device or a group of devices.
