@MrQuagmire26 This is quite true. If you look from a perspective from outside, you'll find there arent much differences between them compared to other countries. But if you try closely, you'll figure out a lot of differences between srilankan and indian cooking.
the indian province with closest cuisine to srilanka i could think of is Kerala.
@MrQuagmire26 well yeah. But Sri lankans seem to rely more on coconut milk and oil rather than clarified butter/Ghee. But then again, Thai food and chinese food ain't the same just because they use same condiments and spices at times. I guess its the same principle.

@MrQuagmire26 Probably there is a lot more similarity to very souther indian cuisine, but there is still a lot of difference in Sri Lankan cuisine. I spent 2 months working there and have previously visited India, the Indians have a lot more variation in their curries whereas the Sri Lankans seem to have a lot more variation in their accompaniments, most of which have no real Indian counterpart as far as I know. I think Indian food is more aromatic also, they use a lot more herbs/species/pastes
@Yixian99 Well. A India colleague told me that south indian cooking and sri lankan cooking is very close to the same. The lankan chicken curry I had for lunch by a colleague had very similar aromas and smells to indian cuisine. But since you claim they are very different, what is the most significant differences?
I would love to try that dish some day, looks delicious! :-D
